"Friends"
What a strange relationship it is that we share with people we call
friends.
Unlike all other relationships where the name of the relationship with the
person is constant irrespective of your actual feelings or intereactions with
the person, Friends are the only relations where the name of the
relationship changes if the equation with the opposite person changes.
See the main relations : mother, father, brother, sister, aunt or uncle.
whether you like them or not or you speak to them or not, they will always
remain your mother, father, brother , sister, aunt or uncle.
If you divorce your wife, she still is called your wife with an ex added in
front ( ex-wife).
But if you do not get along with some friend or have a serious argument or
disagreement, he no longer remains our friend. He can change from friend to
accquaintance or maybe to an enemy.
Friendship is one of the two relationship which are normally made by choice ,
the other being love/ marriage. (marriage not of the arranged kind).
(About my take on Love, you can read my blog “love-yeh kis cheez ka naam hai?” on
rediff.)
If I think deeply about friends, it is one of the most enigmatic relationships
that one can come across in the human existence. A relationship made by choice, without any
barriers of sex, age, geography, history, circumstances, money or religion.
A relationship which truly unifies.
Maybe it is a pointer to / jhalak of the
ultimate relationship that we are here to discover…the relationship called by
various names – merging the self with the higher self, merging our astitva with
that of God, The wave going back into the ocean……………………….
Jo bhi hai, friends rock and boy, am I glad to have good friend in my life!
To all of you my new friends here, I am glad that you are here. Welcome to my heart and life!
I value you and friendship above all else.
Namaste!
